A visiting professor of sports record analysis at the Graduate School of Records and Information Science in Shinmun Myung-ji, who is running for the 55th president of the Korea Football Association, called for a policy debate between candidates.
Shin Moon-sun said on the 4th that all three candidates promised to participate in the public debate, but the election management committee said that there has been no action so far and that the debate should be held as soon as possible.
On March 5, Shin proposed an open debate to Chung Mong-gyu and Huh Jung-moo, asking them to talk freely about the administration of the Korea Football Association. The next day, Huh said he welcomed it, and Chung also expressed his willingness to accept it on Wednesday.
In response, an official from the Korea Football Association said that no candidate officially asked the Election Commission to hold a debate.
Candidate Shin said, "Based on the fact that the three candidates agreed, we distributed a press release to the election management committee to discuss the date, method, and location of the debate and confirm the schedule." He also pointed out that his campaign staff informed the secretary of the election management committee, but it is still not happening.
Candidate Shin told the Election Commission, "We had to proceed with an important event to verify the candidate's pledges and visions based on the contents of the election management regulations," adding, "We had to contact each camp for consultation from the time candidate Chung said he would respond to the debate."
He added that despite the fact that Article 20 of the Election Management Regulations states that "a debate will be held if an agreement is reached between candidates," the failure to proceed is sufficient to suspect the intentionality.
Candidate Shin officially complained to the Election Commission on the 3rd, and said, "We have no choice but to be angry at the attitude of reviewing the topic, venue, and time zone of the discussion and coordinating the positions between the candidates."
Regarding candidate Chung, he criticized, "The election management committee was selected by the president's deputy, the vice chairman of the Korea Football Association, through the board of directors," adding, "Not even dealing with basic tasks is enough to be misunderstood as an action to protect candidate Chung."
Candidate Shin said, "Based on the official protest against the issue and the fact that the debate was demanded immediately, Chung and Huh should also express their positive stance." He also said that although there is a pressure of time for the election to take place on the 8th, there will be no difficulty in preparing for the debate because they have already announced their pledges.
Finally, candidate Shin said, "If we get the consent of each camp and review the convenience of coverage and broadcasting by ensuring fairness, we can give the people a valuable gift of the presidential debate of the Korea Football Association." 토토사이트
